How are you?
Tired. Busy. Spent. Anxious.
Every friend I have reached out to in the last week or two has responded with some variation of the above. I would imagine that you are feeling something similar in one way or another.
I am. I’m exhausted. WAY TOO BUSY. And it won’t stop until January. This is when I am under this fairy tale belief that my life will slow down because it is a new year.
I just spent time in prayer this morning over my friends and family. Consistently, I found myself praying Psalm 127:1-2 over my loved ones, and I wanted to take a second to share it with you because it has been freeing for me.
Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for He grants sleep to those He loves.
The end of the year has the ability to heap stress on your shoulders. But verse two says this. It isn’t lazy to rest. It is a gift from the Lord. We can spend all day building. We can spend all night toiling to produce something and to provide, but unless the Lord is in it, we do it all in vain.
I would challenge you in this next month to find something that seems pointless. It seems like a waste of time because
it is not moving you forward. The only value it provides is that you like to do it and you want to do it. Set time aside and do it.
Practice resting because it is from the Lord.
Share this with someone in your life who needs to rest.
